What a fantastic piece of nature. I wanted to go here for a while but unfortunately the water levels in Lake Powell were too low for the tours to run and we didn't feel confident enough in our boating skills to go it alone. You can also reach it via a multi day hike but not feasible for most. But last year's heavy snow meant the water levels were favorable for boat tours to resume. It's still a little bit of a hike but doable for most (I'd rank it as moderate) The trail that goes behind the arch was closed and you can't go under it. But it is AMAZING. There was even a register to sign and our kids were super excited to sign it.
The costs come from the tour groups taking you in. You can go on your own if have a boat and enough gas to get there and back.
We used the Lake Powell tour guide and ferry. It was about 2 hours to get to the dock and 2 hours back. The hike from the dock to the monument was about 15-20 minutes if you move quickly and about 30 minutes both ways if you “stroll.” There are no hand over foot hiking situations, but it would be strenuous for someone older, with heart, lung or balance issues.
It’s worth the trip due to the uniqueness of the monument and views.
We're so happy the Rainbow Bridge dock was opened up during our visit to Lake Powell. It was a short walk to the bridge and wow, what a view! We actually walked beyond the bridge to see it from the "backside". Great view, worth the extra 10 min walk.
Beautiful boat ride and short hike to Rainbow Bridge. Make sure to walk the extra half mile to the other side to gain an extra year of life.( Native American belief)
Amazing views on the way on boat and during the short hike as well. Really must try.
It was about a mile hike from the boat docks to Rainbow Bridge. What a spectacular sight! So glad I made the effort!
So fun to visit. Make sure to bring water and shoes. We went really early and was not hot
What an extraordinary place. It's a long boat ride to get here, especially when the lake is low, but there are beautiful sights to see along the way. Once you finally dock, it's a relatively easy 20-30 minute hike and you're right in front of the bridge. Don't despair if it starts to rain! Waterfalls spring up all over the place, making the hike and bridge even more magical. Just be sure to pack some waterproof gear!
